Federation of Democratic Kurdish Society - Australia
Who we are
The Federation is the umbrella organisation of grassroots Kurdish community organisations across Australia.
Starting from the Kurdish community Centre in Sydney over 40 years ago, and developing into the current Kurdish Federation, we are proud of our strong roots and of being the longest serving Kurdish community organisation in Australia.

Our objective is to promote and preserve our culture and share this with the broader Australian people, and to advocate for the rights and dignity of our historically marginalised communities.

The Federation is democratically constituted, and we promote solidarity and friendship among Kurdish and other ethnic communities, and all Australian citizens.

About Us
Sharing our cultures. Honouring our roots. Working towards a brighter future.
The Federation is democratically constituted and coordinated by elected representatives and committees.

As a politically active body, and working through our members and community centres across Australia, our work aims to:
Create a greater understanding of social and cultural factors affecting Kurdish people
Inform Kurdish people, NGOs and the media about developments in Kurdistan
Bring attention to governments and policy-makers concerning developments in Kurdistan and Australia.
Share resources and coordinate activities of Kurdish community centres in Australia, bringing their concerns to Australian platforms;
Assist individuals and groups in researching Kurdish history, language and culture.
Inform and assist refugee organisations in identifying the needs of Kurdish, Yezidi and other refugees. We have a proud record of providing moral, social, and financial support to individuals and families escaping persecution, building strong and lasting ties that have ensured the successful integration of newly arrived Kurdish families with their new communities in Australia.
